A dog who suffered from animal cruelty was able to survive his ordeal and is now available for adoption.
The dog named Hemi was located in Rockingham County around eight months ago. Triangle Beagle Rescue is currently in possession of the dog, and the staff at the rescue is presently trying to find the pooch her forever home.
Hemi is currently living a comfortable life at her foster home and spends most of her time playing with toys or snoozing on a couch.
Life did not seem to be that easy for Hemi eight months ago when the local police found her just outside a home in Rockingham County. Police reported that when they found the dog, she was chained, and the chain had to be cut with bolt cutters because it was embedded in the dog’s neck.
A woman who lived in the home told police that the dog had been chained for around four months.
The dog was given to a local animal shelter, and the staff at the shelter described Hemi’s wounds as gruesome. The staff said that they could see several layers of muscle and skin after the removal of the chain.
Hemi spent a few months at the shelter and became everybody’s favorite dog there. Triangle Beagle Rescue took Hemi in their possession after an animal cruelty case involving the pooch was lodged in the courts.
Brook Terran, who works as a volunteer at the Triangle Beagle Rescue, said that Hemi was one truly resilient pooch, and she had successfully recovered after spending the past few months in the rehabilitation phase.
The staff at the rescue said that the dog did not show any long term psychological effects of the cruelty that she had to suffer because of her happy-go-lucky personality.
The dog is just waiting for one thing now, and that is her forever home.
