When two pit bulls named Agatha and Jukebox arrived at Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson, Arizona, they didn’t even know about each other. But from the moment the pitties met each other in a playgroup, they were inseparable.
Jukebox was at the Arizona shelter first, having been picked up from the streets as a stray. About a month later, Agatha came along after her former owner surrendered her. Jukebox was almost two years old, while Agatha was around a year older than him.
According to Pima Animal Care Center’s director of animal services, Kristen Hassen-Auerbach, bonded pairs in shelters have usually known each other all their lives. In many cases, their relationship started long before they came into the facility.
But despite being strangers, something beautiful blossomed between Jukebox and Agatha at their very first meeting. It was clear from the start that their friendship would last forever.
Before finding each other, both pitties were having trouble adjusting to shelter life. Waiting in a kennel day in and day out took a toll on Jukebox and Agatha, and they became increasingly antsy as the weeks passed.
But having a best friend made the wait somewhat easier. The pit bulls became so close in such a short time that they started sharing one kennel.
Jukebox and Agatha even refused to sleep apart, choosing instead to snuggle with each other in one tiny bed. It’s no small feat for two large dogs!
Pima Animal Care Center knew they would have a difficult time adopting out a bonded pair, but there was no way they were separating Jukebox and Agatha. After all, the pitties feel lost when they don’t have the other by their side.
Luckily, a photo of the pooches cuddling went viral, with over 12,000 people sharing the post. Thanks to this adorable picture, a couple named Erin and Ubaldo Leon found out about Jukebox and Agatha and dropped by the shelter to see them.
After hitting it off right away with the friendly pitties, Erin and Ubaldo made the adoption official. Even while excitedly exploring every corner of their new forever home, Jukebox and Agatha never strayed too far from each other.
Now, the two will never have to be cooped up in a kennel again, and they will always be together with their loving fur parents. Watch Jukebox and Agatha before their adoption in the video below:
