Drew Harrisberg is an exercise physiologist from Australia and he had gone to a local animal shelter to adopt a dog that he had been eyeing. He was disappointed when he learned that a family had gotten there first.
He was really interested in adopting a dog so he checked the dogs there to see if one catches he fancy. Soon enough, he saw Dennis, a black Staffordshire bull terrier. The dog was hopping right inside his kennel and seemed to be barking without a sound coming from him. It was odd behavior and it was what caught Drew’s fancy.
Drew decided to play with the dog and he found that they had a connection. He said that it seemed like they were meant to be BFFs right from that moment. However, Drew learned later that a family had already signed the papers to adopt Dennis.
Drew knew he had to do something. He offered to become Dennis’ foster dad for two weeks before he goes to his new home. A member of the staff at the shelter said that Drew may fall in love with Dennis and it was not a good idea. Drew said that it just didn’t feel right to see Dennis be in a kennel any minute more so he’s offering him a place for the meantime to run and have freedom before finally getting adopted.
That day, Drew took Dennis home. He admitted that he definitely did fall in love with the dog and it was difficult for him when after two weeks, he had a hard time giving up Dennis.
The family who wanted to adopt Dennis saw Drew’s videos of Dennis and him online and they were okay with having Drew keep Dennis. It was evident that the two were meant to be together and that they really loved one another.
