When summer comes, both humans and their dogs like to spend their time outside to cool themselves. However, several other animals also go out during the summer, including venomous snakes. These snakes could pose harm to anyone, and victims could die in an instant.
Fortunately for this California family, their dog named Mia took matters into her paws when faced with a killer snake. Megan Montano allowed her dogs to play outside of their home one fine afternoon.
Megan stepped out onto her patio and reached down to put a leash on Rebel, the family’s chihuahua. Suddenly, the other dog, Mia, acted strangely and raced beside Megan as if the dog wanted to protect her.
Mia then barked non-stop and backed up closer to Megan. When the dog bumped into Megan’s leg, that was the time that Megan realized there was a rattlesnake an inch away from her. The reptile had bitten Mia as the dog was protecting both Megan and Rebel, who were unaware of the snake’s existence.
Upon realizing that Mia got bitten, Megan immediately brought her to the nearest veterinary clinic. Fortunately, during that time, the clinic has a supply of antivenin, which helped Mia recuperate fast.
According to Megan, Mia did an excellent job protecting her and Rebel, and she would always be grateful for this heroic gesture. The dog owner likewise reported the incident to the wildlife control. This is to prevent similar instances from happening again in the future.
With the report, the wildlife control officers immediately relocated the rattlesnake to keep Megan’s family safe. But even with this, Megan wants to be sure all the time that her family is safe.
As such, whenever she takes Rebel and Mia outside, she would often check the surroundings first. Through this, Megan is assured of her dogs’ safety.
