It’s always heartbreaking to watch a family deal with a lost pet. One cannot imagine how difficult it is to worry about their dog’s safety and whereabouts. Some are found, while others are not so lucky. Bradley Wieferich and his family experienced the worst ordeal when they lost their dog, Bambi, four years ago.
So Bradley thought someone prank-called him and told him that they found their dog. The company located Bambi in Toledo, four years after she ran off. Bradley could not believe it. Toledo is hundreds of miles away from them – after all these years, he never thought they can still find their dog.
Bradley said the news stunned him. After years of searching, he couldn’t believe he finally heard the words “we found your dog.” According to Toledo police, they found Bambi wandering around a neighborhood. They took her to animal control, and with her scanned microchip, they discovered she is not stray. She’s Bradley’s family pet. The company called up Bradley to deliver the good news.
Laura Simmons- Wark, in-charge of the shelter where Bambi stayed, described the thin dog as charming. The idea as to how Bambi ended up hundreds of miles away from her family’s home amazed all of them. “Who knows where she went after all this time,” Laura added.
Bambi, who is now twelve years old, finally reunited with Bradley and the whole family. According to her owner, he did not recognize her at first, with her thin state and worn fur. But when he saw her marking on the muzzle and heard her signature howl, he cried.
Bradley said their family assumed the worst all these years after Bambi left. They thought somebody already adopted her or worse, she already died. Her return reiterates the importance of microchipping dogs and scanning stray dogs for them. One might come across a stray and find out he or she is not homeless, just lost.
