A young woman runs a coffee shop in Seoul, South Korea. One day, she brought a white dog to the shop to keep her company. She named the dog Betty.
The dog came from a nearby animal center. While in the shelter, Betty only had other dogs as company and rarely had any human contact. Betty became very shy when people are around, probably because it had not much experience in dealing with people.
The dog likes to observe customers from the corner
Regular customers coming to the coffee shop noticed Betty immediately. They got curious why the dog only sat near a corner and quietly watched them consume their orders. Most of them found Betty cute and wanted to be friends with her. But Betty would leave if anybody tried to approach it.
But Betty’s owner feels that the dog just needs time to get adjusted and get used to being around people. When there were no customers, Betty’s owner plays with the dog in the shop. During good weather, she takes the dog for walks around the neighborhood. This way, Betty can experience more places and see more people.
Betty comes out of its shell
After a few days, Betty looks forward to the walks around the neighborhood. The dog became familiar with places and even had a favorite store where it became a regular visitor. The store owner also knows what treats Betty likes.
The dog also began to recognize regular customers in the coffee shop. Whenever Betty remembers the person coming into the shop, the dog greets the person. Betty has become popular with the customers.
The dog also loves playtime with its owner before closing time. After a long day of work, Betty looks forward to having its one on one time with its beloved owner. The shy and timid animal that arrived just weeks ago has become a very friendly and happy dog.
