Truck drivers play a vital role in the economy of the United States. Despite this, they are also among the overworked workers in the country. Add to this woe is the fact that they go by with their daily work almost always alone. A recent initiative, though, wants to change this sad reality among truckers as they are paired to dogs during their shift at work.
This initiative is the brainchild of Pedigree and Mobil Delvac as they see the need for truckers to have companions on the road. The companies recognized this opportunity to pair these truckers to shelter dogs for a win-win solution. Since animal shelters have problems with population, this could be a solution, according to animal rights advocates.
The two companies have since named the initiative Mutts4Trucks. This initiative will not only provide truckers with a dog companion during their shift but will also give incentives to truckers who will adopt a shelter pooch. These incentives include Pedigree dog food, a car harness, a leash, and other materials needed to rare a pooch.
Amber Carlton-Wise is one of the many people who see this initiative as pro-active. For Amber, she will not only have a companion on the road. She will also get a stress reliever when the going gets tough. Amber understands the many benefits of having a dog. That is why she is pleased with this development.
Recently, Amber received her companion, and she named the dog Zorro. Amber enjoyed having Zorro because, according to her, the pooch is cute and lively. But more than this, Amber sees this a chance to share whatever blessings she received in the past. Amber knows that animal shelters are getting cramped, and being part of this initiative can put her be of help in addressing such a problem.
