Dr. Jeff Young is a famous veterinarian that has a show on Animal Planet. Once a year, he travels to Mexico, along with other vets, to help underserved areas. His main goal is neutering, but they also help animals that need surgery.
Dr. Jes is another veterinarian who works with Dr. Jeff. He is very enthusiastic about their mission because he wants to learn more about Spanish medical terminologies. He speaks Spanish and can converse well with the people who come asking for help.
One owner went to the are with a dog named Bebe. Bebe had a cherry eye. The receptionist, Dyani, administered some sedatives and placed Bebe on the operating table. Dr. Jeff began the operation with neutering. After that, he worked on Bebe’s cherry eye.
The team didn’t bring an Elizabethan collar with them to Mexico. They weren’t expecting to perform other forms of surgery. Dyani had to improvise using a cardboard box.
Dyani cut the cardboard box into a shape that would wrap around Bebe’s neck. It would prevent the dog from scratching her sutures. The Mexican woman was very happy because she treats Bebe like her own child.
The veterinary team helped a total of eighty-one dogs that day. Dr. Jeff said it wasn’t a bad number considering that it was their first time in that particular area of Mexico. The vet and his team wanted to make a difference, and they all believe the mission was worth the effort.
