YouTuber Simone Giertz has been known mostly for her fascinating and amusing inventions. But one other thing that people don’t know about her is that she is actually a huge dog lover. In fact, her recent creation has been inspired by her love for dog photos, and the internet wants it on the market!
Simone had lived around dogs for most of her life and had always wanted to adopt one. But because of her busy schedule and life getting in the way, she felt that she wasn’t ready to adopt a pup just yet. Well, that was until earlier this year.
She finally decided to look for a rescue dog at the animal rescue organization San Francisco SPCA’s website. There, she found Scraps, a three-month-old terrier mix with an amputated back leg.
Initially, Simone wanted to adopt a larger dog as she fell in love with a boxer mix she fostered for a while before. However, she decided to go for a smaller breed since they would be easier to care for and could be conveniently brought anywhere.
Scraps fit the bill perfectly, so Simone immediately applied to adopt her and bring her home. The moment the two met, the terrier mix instantly warmed up to her new fur mom, and the duo had been bonding ever since.
Apart from bringing her to her workshop, Simone also started to train the puppy basic obedience tricks. During one of these sessions, the fur mom thought of teaching Scraps how to take a selfie with her phone. It didn’t end well, though, as the canine’s large paw would touch incorrect buttons every time.
That was when the inventor thought of making an automated dog photo booth for the pooch. She first designed the photo booth structure then programmed a pedal mechanism that would trigger a camera and a treat dispenser at the same time. This way, Scraps would be more motivated to use the photo booth.
It took Simone about a day to create the Legos project, but when she saw the outcome, she knew everything was worth it. Scraps, of course, immediately tested the photo booth and got tons of treats in return. Look at the adorable selfies of the pup here.
